Basketball Card

I really like trying new techniques, and birthday cards for my little cousins seem like the best opportunity to try fun, interactive pieces.

This card has a coin attached to the back of the basketball (see my prototype above), so that it moves when you turn the card and goes into the hoop (see videos below). It was quite tricky getting the hoop in the right place, but I think I managed it in the end (it only gets stuck occasionally.)

This isn’t a completely original idea, but I did design and cut everything out by hand. I mostly used 3D tape to stick everything together, so that there’s space to let the ball move.

I think this card is really cute. I often struggle to come up with ideas for cards for my male relatives, but I’m really proud of this one.
