The Greatest Showman Birthday Card

I needed to make a card for my cousin, so I decided try something a bit different. The figure (inspired by Zendaya in The Greatest Showman) is hanging in the card and can be wound up, so that it spins (see video below). I wasn’t certain that this was going to work when I started it, but I thought I’d try it anyway, and it works quite well.

I made the figure double-sided, so that it doesn’t look weird when it spins. There is fishing line between the two sides of the figure, so it can be wound up, and I added a bit of silver thread to the top, so it looks more like the hoop is actually hanging. It was a bit fiddly getting everything lined up, but it worked in the end.

I love The Greatest Showman (if you haven’t seen it yet, you definitely should), and it’s always interesting to try a new technique, so this was a fun experience. There are a couple of things that could have been done better, but I think it was good for a first attempt, and now I know that this is a technique I could use in the future.
