Penguins and Patterned Cards

I recently made cards for Fathers’ Day. They are my original designs and handcut from paper.

I made this first one for my dad, who loves penguins.

The second card was for my grandfather. The illusion of the cubes isn’t a completely original idea, but I do feel that I made it my own by adding the stripes and chequerboard pattern.

It’s quite hard to see in these photos, but the paper behind this cutout has a bit of a pattern. It reminds me of a pattern you’d find on a handkerchief, and I think it makes the card a bit more interesting.
