Pomegranate Painting

Here are more photos of my completed pomegranate painting.

I painted this artwork on a 20 by 20 cm canvas, with acrylic paint. I then coated the painting in a satin varnish to protect it.

Here are some close-up photos, so you can see the details.

I’m really proud of this painting. Apart from painting polymer clay, I don’t really paint that often. I probably only make a couple of paintings a year, and have only been doing that for 2, maybe 3, years. Obviously, I painted at school, but that’s not the same as choosing to paint. I like painting every once in a while, but I don’t think I could do it all the time. I get frustrated that it doesn’t look like I want it to look, and I’m never sure when to stop. I always feel like I could add more detail, but I get bored, so I stop. With more practice, I’d get better, therefore it would be easier and I’d not get as frustrated, but I like papercutting. I like how you can see the end point of a papercut, and you can estimate how long it will take. Whereas, with painting, you could just keep adding layers forever.
